Star Sunglasses offer a comprehensive prescription service for both frames and sunglasses, the ordering process is simple and our prices are exceptional. We specialise in single vision lenses, either distance or reading, and have a simple menu for you to choose from.
The prices below are for BOTH lenses, once you have chosen the frame that you require simply identify from the menu below the option you wish to purchase, buy the frame and a member of staff will contact you regarding your prescription requirements. Its simple, fast and hassle free.
Single Vision (distance or reading) using a Standard CR39 lens material
Entry level lens material that is excellent for frames that are not too curved. This option is the most popular material used by prescription glazing companies.
This lens material has a 1.5 index (the higher the index number, the thinner the lenses are).
The prescription range is -6.00 to +6.00 (CYL to 2.00), we will check this against your prescription and advise you accordingly.
To add a Hard Coating (increases the scratch resistance) ADD £25.00 to the cost.
Single Vision (distance or reading) using a Glass lens material
Excellent optically yet heavier than all the other options, glass can also splinter and break if dropped. Great for frames that are not too curved.
This lens material has a 1.52 index (the higher the index number, the thinner the lenses are).
The prescription range is -6.00 to +6.00 (CYL to 4.00), we will check this against your prescription and advise you accordingly.
To add a Photochromic filter (lens will go dark and act as sunglasses in direct sunlight) ADD £25.00 to the cost.
Single Vision (distance or reading) using a Polycarbonate lens material
Lightweight and strong lens material that is excellent for a wide range of frames, including sport frames. This option is the most popular material used when requiring a light, thin lens.
This lens material has a 1.59 index (the higher the index number, the thinner the lenses are).
The prescription range is -6.00 to +4.00 (CYL to 2.00), we will check this against your prescription and advise you accordingly.
To add a Polarised and UV filter (changes the lenses to a permanent sunglasses prescription) ADD £35.00 to the cost.
To add a Transition filter (lens will go dark and act as sunglasses in direct sunlight) ADD £55.00 to the cost.
To add a Hard Coating (increases the scratch resistance) ADD £25.00 to the cost.
Single Vision (distance or reading) using a Resin lens material
Thinnest lens material that is lightweight, strong and excellent for a wide range of frames. This option is the most popular material used when requiring a very light, very thin lens.
This lens material has a 1.67 index (the higher the index number, the thinner the lenses are).
The prescription range is -10.00 to +8.00 (CYL to 4.00), we will check this against your prescription and advise you accordingly.
To add a Polarised and UV filter (changes the lenses to a permanent sunglasses prescription) ADD £115.00 to the cost (prescription range changes to -7.00 to +6.00 (CYL to 4.00).
To add a Transition filter (lens will go dark and act as sunglasses in direct sunlight) ADD £105.00 to the cost.
To add a Hard Coating (increases the scratch resistance) ADD £25.00 to the cost.

If you have already ordered and paid for your frame please include your order number and contact details. We will email you a simple to use form that we will need completed to process your prescription, full details on how to complete the form are also in the email.
